My Week in Review...2/08-2/14

It has been a bit busier here this week and I didn't get to read all the posts written by my friends here in blogland. I hope a can get caught up soon (right after I clean the toilets and strip the beds)!  So until I can get caught up with all of you and what's been happening in your lives here is a little glimpse into mine.

What I've Been Thinking:  At least a thousand things have been floating through my head and about three-quarters of them have gotten lost in the great unknown!  One of them that I was able to keep track of was that I want to get my children more involved in ministering to the ladies and gentlemen at the nursing home where my grandmother resides.  I know that the residents really enjoy seeing my children and talking with them.  I think it will help build compassion and social graces in my children as well.

What I've Been Doing:  We delivered Valentines to the residents at the nursing home and to the widows in our neighborhood yesterday.  It was a fun experience for the boys and they enjoyed bringing smiles to the ladies and gentlemen whom they gave to.  I also have been enjoying spending some time with my sister Marisa, nephew and niece who are here for a weekend visit.  I got the opportunity to have a young (teenage) girl, from my church, over for an afternoon of crocheting.  It was a relaxing time that we both needed and we enjoyed working on a new project together.

What I've Been Dreaming: I'm still dreaming of spring and probably will be for the next month!  I made out my seed order for my vegetable garden and will be anticipating its arrival in the mail.

What I've Been Praying:  This could be an extra long list so I will pick only a couple of things to talk about.

  1. I've been praying for a young mother who's husband died right before Christmas.  She has 3 young daughters and is in deepest sorrow right now.
  2. I've also been praying for the physically needy in our church.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with you loved ones.  God Bless each of you!

  1. Oh, a spring garden...I can hardly wait. My garden is nothing compared to yours...I just don't have the space...but I can't wait to see what you plant!

I think getting your kids involved at the nursing home is such an excellent idea. It is never too early to teach them the joy of serving.

My heart breaks for the young mother who lost her hubby...I will be praying for her as well.

Thank you so very much for your comment to me, Jenn! It means so much, and I know you truly understand how I feel...and I feel so overwhelmed right now with all of the love and prayers from this sweet blogging community.

  3. I worked in a nursing home for 4 years and I think what you are doing is great!! They light up when they see a child. When Pebbles goes to kindergarden, even though the pay is not at all good, I will probably try and go back to working with the elderly...I feel it's what I was meant to do besides being a SAHM.

My heart goes out to the lady who lost her husband.
