Capture My Thoughts

Recently my husband and I were having a discussion concerning the purchase of a Hoosier Cabinet that belonged to my grandparents.  Our conversation was going reasonable well until he asked me, “Can I tell you what I think without you getting angry with me?”

“Of course!” I replied

But, as he began to talk I felt a surge of agitation rise within me.  He wasn’t saying what I wanted to hear.  He wasn’t helping me make my decision, he was making it harder to make a decision.  Or so I thought at the moment.  As he continued to ask questions and make statements, my mind was reeling with resentment.  I was thinking unkind things and relaying my answers to him in a short manner.

My thoughts were angry!

  1. this was such an excellent post jenn.
    really hits home.
my husband and i hardly ever argue but i think that is somewhat because i usually get my way. when i don't...then i see the anger come out.
i definitely need to work on this more and pray about it more often as well.
    thanks!

  2. It's that 'of course' that 'ell get ya every-time! Heeehehe, be careful what you ask for because we just might get it.

Here too. Hubby and I hardly ever have an argument but he has become very compatible by just sayin', "yes dear." I'm just a little spoiled.

Great post! We all have those feelings when the answer is not what we want to hear. It's so good that God is very patient with us.

You have yourself a terrifically blessed Thrusday!!!

  4. Wow, Jenn, this is really something I struggle with at times. I thought I was the only one! Changing my thoughts and heart is way harder than just shutting my mouth! Much love, thanks for sharing.
